Who Are the Abyssal Escape Killers?

Abyssal Escape killers turn a survival round into a fight against traps, airborne attacks, and transformations. The five-character pre-release roster includes X, Furnace, No More Innocence, Fleetway Super Sonic, and 2017X. Learning how Abyssal Escape killers find survivors and change during a match helps you choose a character and recognize dangerous situations.

The movesets below cover the pre-release test build. Abyssal Escape’s public release is in alpha, with customizable survivors, red mist objectives, and an evolution system that strengthens killers as the match progresses.

KillerCore mechanicsLate-match mechanics
XInvisibility, damaging rings, teleportation, and clonesUses the same three-ability moveset
FurnaceHeat management, flight, enhanced slashes, and flamethrowersAutomatically regenerates heat up to half the meter
No More InnocenceTV travel, survivor doubles, and hallucinationsTransforms into a different moveset
Fleetway Super SonicFlight, a ranged laser, and a damaging grabGains a major speed increase
2017XSpeed boosts, Spin Dash, and target markingTransforms into Broken Face with new attacks

Understand Phases Before Chasing

Abyssal Escape killers progress through three phases tied to the remaining match time. Phase one starts the round. Later phases bring buffs or, for certain characters, a transformation that replaces their abilities.

Survivors can dispel red mist to reduce the escape timer. That makes objectives central to the match: chasing someone while everyone else works on mist gives the surviving team room to advance its escape.

Watch objective areas as well as individual targets. Use your character’s tracking tools to decide whether to continue a chase or move toward other survivors.

Stamina also matters. In the test build, basic attacks—often called M1s—and abilities consume stamina, while running itself does not. Stamina regenerates during movement, but walking restores it faster than running. Ease off unnecessary attacks when your meter needs recovery.

X: Invisibility, Ring Traps, and Clone Pressure

Among Abyssal Escape killers, X is the free starter with a straightforward combination of tracking, ambush damage, and map travel. His abilities let you find targets, approach unseen, and return to previously placed rings.

Abyssal Escape — X: Invisibility, Ring Traps, and Clone Pressure

AbilityWhat it doesTest-build damage
Hide and SeekLeaves a clone behind, turns X invisible, and reveals survivors30 on contact with a survivor
Ring TrapPlaces a red ring that damages survivors and serves as a teleport destination50 when a survivor touches it
PeekabooSurrounds a targeted survivor with shadowy clones, including the real X30 if the survivor fails the encounter

Use Rings for Travel as Well as Damage

Ring Trap has two separate jobs. Survivors take damage when they touch a ring, but X can also select a placed ring to teleport to it.

Place rings with your future movement in mind. Keep destinations near areas you expect to revisit, rather than placing every ring solely in hopes of catching someone. The rings are visibly large, so a survivor can steer around them.

Hide and Seek reveals survivors while concealing your approach. Use that information to choose a target before committing to contact. Leaving a clone behind also gives the ability a deception element beyond its damage.

Peekaboo creates a different kind of encounter. A survivor who does nothing or touches two false clones takes damage. Reaching the real X instead stuns him.

Expect that possibility when activating Peekaboo. Its outcome can interrupt your pursuit, so avoid treating it as a guaranteed finishing hit.

Facing X as a Survivor

Watch your route for red rings, especially while looking backward during a chase. During Peekaboo, reaching the real X is the action that stuns him; standing still allows the attack to resolve against you.

Furnace: Manage Heat Between Flight and Fire

Furnace approaches pursuit differently from the other Abyssal Escape killers. His heat meter powers mobility and strengthens Claw Slash, making resource management part of every chase.

Abyssal Escape — Furnace: Manage Heat Between Flight and Fire

He gains heat by hitting survivors or using Charge Heat. Charging holds him in place, and survivor stuns can interrupt it.

MechanicFunctionPractical tip
Charge HeatBuilds heat while Furnace remains stationaryCharge away from survivors positioned to stun you
Thruster flightSpends heat to fly and reveals survivor locationsUse the reveal to choose your destination
Claw SlashPerforms a short dash and slash; sufficient heat extends the dash and adds burning damagePreserve heat for an enhanced approach
Scorched EarthProjects flamethrowers in front of Furnace and can damage multiple survivorsAim toward grouped targets

Balance Movement With an Attack Reserve

Flight provides both travel and tracking. Furnace also has a passive indicator for survivors’ general direction and location, while flight supplies a more reliable reveal.

Use those tracking tools before spending heat on a long approach. Burning through your meter to reach someone leaves less available for an enhanced Claw Slash.

When heat extends Claw Slash, pressing the ability again stops the dash. Use that control to end your approach near the target rather than carrying yourself beyond them.

Scorched Earth threatens everyone caught in front of Furnace. Aim it toward clustered survivors, especially when several players are occupied together.

Adjust During Phase Three

Phase three gives Furnace automatic heat regeneration up to 50% of his meter. That lets him rebuild part of the resource while moving instead of relying entirely on stationary charging or successful hits.

Keep watching the meter. Regeneration reaches half capacity; it does not remove the need to manage heat.

Against Furnace, spread out when the flamethrowers appear. If you have a stun ready while he uses Charge Heat, interrupt the charge to deny that stationary buildup.

No More Innocence: Deception Before Transformation

No More Innocence adds disguise and visual disruption to the Abyssal Escape killers roster. His early phases revolve around televisions, false survivors, and hallucinations. His presence also gives the map a gray, desaturated appearance.

FormAbilityEffect
Phases one and twoScreen TransportationTravels through TVs and reveals players
Phases one and twoDeceitCreates a survivor double that enables tracking and replacement teleportation
Phases one and twoHallucinationDarkens nearby survivors’ vision and creates pursuing illusions
Phase threeTormenting DashGrabs and slams a survivor for 30 damage
Phase threeSpring TrickeryPlaces a false spring that slows survivors
Phase threeYokai SightMarks nearby survivors and enables teleportation to marked targets

Plan Your TV Exit

Screen Transportation lets No More Innocence enter a television and move between screens. Exiting involves a crawling animation, followed by a small speed boost.

Choose your exit before leaving the TV network. Survivors can see the emergence animation, so use the tracking information to approach from a useful position rather than expecting an instant attack.

Deceit creates a double of a random survivor. When that double is near a survivor, it reveals them and allows No More Innocence to teleport into the double’s place.

Use Deceit to relocate toward a detected target. Pair the approach with Hallucination’s darkened vision and moving illusions to disrupt the survivor’s view.

Replace Ambushes With Direct Pursuit

Phase three removes the televisions and replaces the entire ability set.

Tormenting Dash supplies a direct grab-and-slam attack. Spring Trickery places slowing hazards at your cursor, while Yokai Sight marks nearby survivors for teleportation.

Place false springs along a survivor’s expected path during a chase. Use a marked target to close distance, then line up Tormenting Dash. Once the transformation happens, build your pursuit around these tools instead of returning to former TV routes.

As a survivor, watch for newly placed springs and recognize that the transformed killer’s teleportation now depends on marked targets.

Fleetway Super Sonic and 2017X: Flight Versus Relentless Pursuit

These Abyssal Escape killers both emphasize aggressive movement, but their kits ask for different decisions. Fleetway combines aerial travel with ranged pressure and grabs. 2017X begins with ground pursuit before transforming into a heavy attacker.

Fleetway Super Sonic

Fleetway has three main tools:

  • Flight: Consumes stamina, reveals survivors, and allows a ground impact that damages and knocks back nearby targets.
  • Laser: Deals damage over long distances and requires aim.
  • Grab: Deals gradual damage and combines with flight to carry survivors away or slam them into walls.

Use flight’s reveal to locate a target before choosing your approach. Line up the laser when you have a clear shot, and use the grab-and-flight combination to separate a survivor from nearby help.

The grab’s damage develops over time. Carrying the target into a wall adds damage, giving the combination more purpose than simply holding someone.

Phase three increases Fleetway’s speed substantially. Keep checking your stamina as the pace rises; flight still draws from that resource.

When facing Fleetway, coordinate with teammates and pay attention when someone is grabbed. His ability to carry a target away makes isolation dangerous.

2017X and Broken Face

2017X changes both his basic attack and abilities when he transforms.

MechanicBase 2017XBroken Face
Basic attackStandard attack; Top Speed permits attacks during the boostRanged ground slam dealing 35 damage
Movement abilityTop Speed and Spin DashCharged pounce through Savage Jump
Tracking and controlTop Speed reveals survivors; Obsession marks a targetRoar reveals and slows nearby survivors
Additional pressureObsession reduces stun duration and cooldowns while increasing speed near the marked targetImpatience speeds up ability execution; Vicious Grab repeatedly slams a survivor

Top Speed requires filling a red meter by running. Once available, the boost reveals survivors and lets 2017X use basic attacks while moving at speed.

Mark your intended target with Obsession before pursuing them. Its benefits apply near that survivor, so follow the marked target when you want those bonuses.

Base 2017X has limited vertical mobility. Choose pursuit routes that suit his ground movement instead of expecting Spin Dash to solve every height difference.

Broken Face replaces that approach with Roar, Savage Jump, and Vicious Grab. Use Roar’s reveal and slowdown to locate nearby targets, then line up the charged pounce. Adjust your attack spacing for the transformed basic attack: it damages the area in front through a ground slam.
