How Do Abyssal Escape Abilities Work?
In the pre-release test build, Abyssal Escape abilities let you customize a survivor with two skills, while killers have their own movesets and evolving phases. Understanding how Abyssal Escape abilities interact with stamina, movement, and stuns helps you keep an escape option ready during a chase. Start by learning what each skill accomplishes before committing both survivor slots to the same job.
The released Roblox experience is in alpha. Its core loop combines customizable survivors, red-mist objectives that reduce the escape timer, and killers that become more dangerous as the match progresses. The detailed movesets and balance values below cover the pre-release test build.
Survivors use a customizable vessel rather than choosing a fixed character with a predetermined kit. Appearance and ability selection are separate parts of that customization.
Killers follow a three-phase system tied to the remaining match time. Some retain their moves and receive buffs; others transform and replace their entire kit. Learning the opening moveset is only part of learning the matchup.
Your objective also matters when choosing skills. Survivors must coordinate to dispel red mist, rather than spend the entire round chasing opportunities to stun. Use your abilities to create room for objectives, escape pressure, or help a teammate survive.
Survivor Skills: Movement, Stuns, and Defense
Survivor-side Abyssal Escape abilities cover several distinct functions. Some help you reposition, some interrupt the killer, and others reward timing or support teammates.
Image: Roblox / Abyssal Escape
| Ability | Function in the test build | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Slide | Movement and survivability | Available for free |
| Awareness | Passive ability | Available for free |
| Heroic Boost | Mobility | Uses stamina |
| Arm Cannon | Stuns the killer | Counts toward the two-stun penalty |
| Fireball | Stuns the killer | Counts toward the two-stun penalty |
| Weak Punch | Stuns the killer | Requires rings despite its simple attack |
| Phantom Reflex | Defensive parry with a speed boost | Three successive successful uses stun the killer |
| Healing | Restores health | Keeps the user stationary and consumes substantial stamina |
In this build, Slide and Awareness were the free options. Other survivor abilities cost rings earned by playing.
How Phantom Reflex Works
Phantom Reflex rewards baiting an attack. When the killer hits you during the ability’s active period, it prevents damage and grants a speed boost. A successful use also gives it a short cooldown.
An individual successful parry does not immediately stun the killer. Landing three successive successful uses produces the stun.
Use the speed boost to create distance after a successful activation. Avoid standing nearby just to attempt another parry: the immediate benefit is surviving the hit and gaining movement.
Why Two Stuns Have a Tradeoff
Equipping two stunning abilities halves the stun duration of both in the test build. Arm Cannon, Fireball, and Weak Punch all belong to that category.
Pair Abyssal Escape abilities with different functions to avoid that specific penalty. For example, combine a stun with Slide or Heroic Boost, then use the interruption to start moving away.
Choose between the stun options based on the attack you can land consistently. Keep the reduced duration in mind before equipping two simply because both can interrupt the killer.
Manage Stamina and Build Around Your Objective
Stamina connects your Abyssal Escape abilities to the decisions you make between attacks. In the test build, abilities consume stamina, and killer basic attacks—often called M1s—consume it too. Running itself does not drain that resource.

Stamina regenerates while running, but walking restores it faster. An empty bar therefore threatens your ability access even when you can still run.
Keep enough stamina available for your next defensive action. Spending everything on an unnecessary ability can leave you running without a stun, boost, or parry available when you need one.
Build your habits around these mechanics:
- Use an interruption to reposition. Follow a landed stun with movement instead of lingering beside the killer.
- Walk during safe breaks. Take advantage of faster regeneration when the killer is elsewhere.
- Heal with space around you. Account for the stationary animation and stamina cost before starting.
- Watch the objective timer. Dispel red mist to reduce the time survivors must endure.
Mist dispersal also keeps survivors stationary. In the test build, groups of up to four could work on it together. Coordinate those attempts, but watch the matchup: Furnace can damage multiple survivors in front of him, while No More Innocence can exploit nearby survivor clones.
Leave a threatened objective before a stationary interaction becomes a free opening. Return when the killer moves away or a teammate creates space.
The same resource discipline applies when playing killer. Avoid spending stamina on attacks that cannot connect, and use your tracking tools to locate survivors before committing to a chase.
X, Furnace, and Fleetway: Their Core Movesets
These Abyssal Escape abilities emphasize different kinds of pressure: X uses deception and ring-based travel, Furnace manages heat, and Fleetway combines flight with ranged attacks and grabs.
The following moves belong to their pre-release test kits.
| Killer | Ability or mechanic | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| X | Hide and Seek | Turns invisible, leaves a clone, reveals survivors, and deals 30 contact damage |
| X | Ring Trap | Places a damaging red ring that also serves as a teleport destination |
| X | Peekaboo | Surrounds a survivor with shadow clones and a real X |
| Furnace | Charge Heat | Builds heat while stationary; stuns can interrupt it |
| Furnace | Thruster Flight | Spends heat on flight and reveals survivors |
| Furnace | Claw Slash | Dashes and slashes; sufficient heat extends travel and adds burning damage |
| Furnace | Scorched Earth | Uses flamethrowers to damage survivors in front |
| Fleetway Super Sonic | Flight | Consumes stamina, reveals survivors, and enables a damaging ground slam |
| Fleetway Super Sonic | Laser | Deals damage at long range |
| Fleetway Super Sonic | Grab | Damages a captured survivor and combines with flight |
X: Rings Are Also Travel Points
X was the free starter killer in the test build. Ring Trap dealt 50 damage on contact, but its movement function deserves equal attention: X can select a placed ring to teleport to it.
As X, place rings with future travel in mind. As a survivor, watch their positions even when you have no intention of touching one.
Peekaboo creates a different problem. Doing nothing or touching two false clones triggers an attack; touching the real X stuns him. Respond to the clone encounter rather than freezing in place.
Furnace: Spend Heat Deliberately
Furnace gains heat by hitting survivors or using Charge Heat. His phase-three buff automatically regenerates heat up to half the bar, letting him rebuild that resource while moving.
Charge away from immediate stun pressure. Spend heat on flight when you need travel or tracking, and consider the enhanced Claw Slash when you are ready to close a gap.
Against Scorched Earth, spread out rather than presenting several targets directly in front of Furnace.
Fleetway: Watch the Grab-and-Flight Combination
Fleetway can carry a grabbed survivor away from help and slam them into a wall for additional damage. His phase-three buff increases speed.
Keep track of teammates’ positions when facing him. Avoid letting a chase pull you so far away that a grab immediately isolates you from everyone else.
No More Innocence and 2017X: Learn Both Forms
Some Abyssal Escape abilities change completely during a match. No More Innocence transforms in phase three, while 2017X has distinct base and beast movesets.
Treat each transformation as a reason to reassess the chase. The threat you were avoiding a moment ago can be replaced by a different movement tool or attack.
No More Innocence
Early No More Innocence uses TVs, survivor impersonation, and visual disruption.
| Form | Ability | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Phases one and two | Screen Transportation | Travels between TVs and reveals survivors |
| Phases one and two | Deceit | Creates a survivor clone that can reveal nearby survivors and become a teleport destination |
| Phases one and two | Hallucination | Darkens nearby survivors’ vision and creates false pursuing figures |
| Phase three | Tormenting Dash | Rushes into a survivor, grabs them, and slams them for 30 damage |
| Phase three | Spring Trickery | Places a fake spring that slows survivors who touch it |
| Phase three | Yokai Sight | Marks nearby survivors and allows teleportation to marked targets |
Screen Transportation includes a visible exit animation, followed by a small speed boost. Watch nearby TVs and move away when No More Innocence starts emerging.
Do not automatically approach every survivor-shaped figure. Deceit gives the killer a way to replace a clone near another survivor.
In phase three, the TVs disappear and Screen Transportation leaves the kit. Watch your route for fake springs instead. As No More Innocence, place Spring Trickery ahead of a fleeing survivor rather than behind them.
2017X
Base-form 2017X applies pressure through movement and a marked target. Beast form, also called Broken Face, replaces that kit with heavier attacks.
| Form | Ability or mechanic | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Base | Top Speed | Requires a running charge; enables boosted movement, basic attacks, and survivor tracking |
| Base | Spin Dash | Damages survivors on contact |
| Base | Obsession | Marks a survivor and grants nearby buffs to movement, stun resistance, and cooldowns |
| Beast | Basic attack | Becomes a ranged ground slam dealing 35 damage |
| Beast | Impatience | Makes abilities execute faster |
| Beast | Roar | Reveals and slows nearby survivors |
| Beast | Savage Jump | Charges a pounce toward survivors |
| Beast | Vicious Grab | Grabs a survivor and repeatedly slams them |
Build Top Speed through running before trying to activate it. Use Obsession to focus pressure on the marked survivor while benefiting from its proximity buffs.
Against base 2017X, use routes with vertical separation where possible; that form has limited vertical mobility. Reassess that plan after the transformation introduces Savage Jump.
When playing beast form, account for the changed basic attack. Aim the ground slam in front of you, and use Roar’s tracking and slow to help line up your approach.
